Sid Caesar (born Isaac Sidney Caesar, September 8, 1922 – February 12, 2014) was an American actor, comedian and writer. He was best known for two pioneering 1950s live television series: Your Show of Shows (1950–1954) and its successor, Caesar's Hour (1954–1957). Max Liebman was one of the leading pioneers in producing, directing, and writing several highly credited television productions in the 1950s. Growing up in New York, he attended the Boys High School in Brooklyn, and got his start in entertainment, performing and writing in vaudeville.
